Online store and order operations
A store, and everything that happens after someone clicks buy.
Daisy Mae’s makes handmade body care and grooming products. The storefront is the visible part. Behind it is where orders get picked, stock gets counted and pickups get marked done.
- The need
- Sell online and run orders, stock and pickup without a marketplace
- Who uses it
- Owner and staff, with roles for catalog, orders and marketing
- See it
- The store runs at daisy-maes.com

How staff use it
The day starts with paid orders that need preparing. Staff print a pick list and mark each order ready. At pickup they confirm it. For a shipment they type in the carrier and tracking number, which notifies the customer.
Products, stock counts and the announcement bar are edited in the same place, and each staff login only sees the parts of the job it needs.
Why it’s built this way
Prices are worked out on the server, so a browser can’t change what an order costs. Card details stay on Square’s hosted checkout and never reach the site.
When a payment comes through, stock, the receipt and the shop alert each happen exactly once, even if the payment notice arrives twice.

What it does
- Storefront, cart, server-side pricing, hosted Square checkout, products, stock, accounts, orders, invoices, pick lists, staff roles and refunds through Square.
- A real card payment, pickup and full refund ran end to end through the system in August 2026.
- Newsletter sign-up uses double opt-in.
Good to know
- Staff enter the carrier and tracking number for each shipment, and the customer is notified.
- Promotions run as an announcement bar and sign-up prompts that staff edit themselves.
- Pickup orders move from paid to ready to picked up, with a pick list for each.
Where to find it
Browse the store at daisy-maes.com. The back office is private, so the orders screen on this page is an illustration.
Does your business have a rule like this?
Describe it in your own words. Rough is fine. I’ll tell you whether custom software makes sense, or whether something you can already buy does the job. You’ll be talking to me, Fred, not a sales team.
